Intel Nehalem coming out tomorrow

Enter the new Nehalem with 45nm core, or widely known as Core i7 processor. Benchmarks have proven that the new Intel Nehalem or Core i7 processor provide improvement over 45 to 55 percent than the current Penryn processor. Hyperthreading or HT also make a comeback in Nehalem or core i7 processor.

With four core cpu, with have four logical processor with Hyperthreading (HT) features. So eight processors will appear in your Operating System. That will be eight cores, eight logical processors will make 16 threads. This multiple cores will truly shine in the new Operating System from Microsoft, Windows 7. Windows 7 kernel come with multicore optimization.

Other improvement that Nehalem or Core i7 come with are an integrated memory controller that supports triple-channel DD3 memory, managed cores and caches for energy-efficiency, and lower latencies throughout the processor.

Intel will be having a winner with this one. Hopefully AMD will counter attack with something on par with the Nehalem or Core i7, if not better.

Regarding to the previous post, where Windows 7 will support two touch screen notebook and claimed by Asus that they will ship notebook with two touchscreen functionality with Windows 7, the latest news that Asus Eee PC will come with Windows 7 is not a surprise to the Industry.

I would say that Asus is moving on the right track with the future implementation of Windows 7 on their hardware.

This fact was made more interesting by ASUS claiming that they will ship new notebooks that have dual screen, with both screen having touchscreen functionality in the first quater of next year. This notebooks will have touch screen on both side and will ship with Windows 7.

If Windows 7 really does support Multi Touch user interface, and ASUS will ship their dual touchscreen notebook as claimed, we can be sure that other manufacturer will follow ASUS dual touchscreen notebook, and this design could be the future of mobile computing.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 will spin at 7200RPM, and the 3Gb/s SATA I interface has a data rate of up to 120MB/s. Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 will also be available in 1TB, 750GB, 640GB, 500GB, 320GB, and 160GB storage capacities with cache options of 32MB and 16MB.

Not forgetting notebook user, the new Seagate Momentus with 500GB of storage will be available for notebook user alongside the new Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB. Seagate Momentus 2.5-inch drives will be offered in 5400RPM and 7200RPM storage capacities with 8MB of cache and 16MB of cache.

According to Seagate, the Seagate Momentus come with a free-fall sensor technology that will prevent the Seagate Momentus drive becoming damage when dropped.

Pricing is still unavailable at the moment, but you can be sure it will be competetively price. Well, better start saving those notes from now.

Most of motherboard nowadays integrate SPD (Serial Presence Detect) for RAM module speed setting in their motherboard, it is advisable to set the RAM module frequency to your default RAM module.

Serial Presence Detect (SPD) refers to a standardized way to automatically access information about a RAM module. It is the serial version of Parallel Presence Detect (PPD).

Sometimes SPD (Serial Presence Detect) can misconfigured the appropriate value for your RAM module, thus causing random blue screen error message. Usually, random blue screen error message caused by faulty RAM will appear when your Windows load, or during Windows operation.

If you encounter random blue screen error message after installing a new RAM module, make sure you do a quick check on your system BIOS on the RAM module setting. Random blue screen error message caused by faulty RAM module will disappear after the faulty RAM module is changed, or the RAM module setting are reset back to default.

AMD says the core to AMD Puma is energy efficiency, each of the cores of the AMD Puma will be able to run at different speeds to help achieve a balance between efficiency and power , and amazingly will be able to shift speeds while executing threads.All AMD Puma based products will be based on the Griffin processors and RS780M, along with a WiFi adaptor and an optional graphics card. Griffin processors, which will be a dual-core offering, will be equipped with 1MB of L2 cache per core and support up to 8GB of DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 SODIMM RAM.

The RS780M chipset support HDMI and HDCP + Audio, and the chipset can support two display controllers. The RS780M chipset is fully-featured and comes with an integrated DirectX 10 graphics support which AMD claim is up to five times faster than the competitor which is Intel’s X3100 IGP.

One of the highlighted feature of the RS780M chipset used in AMD Puma is the PowerXpress technology which allows the system to switch between external and integrated graphics when changing between AC and DC power without the need for a reboot. Also included is the Hybrid CrossfireX, a good news for mobile gamers. This Hybrid CrossfireX technology allows the integrated graphics hardware to work in tandem with the separate graphics controller to offer more power for gamers.

According to AMD, AMD Puma based notebooks will be available towards the end of Q2.

The first thing I ask him is what was the last he thing he do to his windows before the random blue screen error messages occur evertime his computer crash. He told me he didn’t install anything before the random blue screen error messages appear. Then I ask him if he did anything with his hardware. He told me he add a new RAM module to his computer before the random blue error messages appear.

I told him to remove the new RAM module, and see if it solved the problem.

15 minutes later he call me again and told me the random blue screen messages still appear. I ask him again, besides adding the new RAM module, is there anything else that he did with his hardware before the random blue screen error messages appear everytime his computer crash that he forget to told me about. Suddenly he remember he overclocked his processor.

He overclocked his Intel Celeron 2.0Ghz to a whopping 2.6Ghz!

Overclocking is changing your processor speed to a higher value to squeeze out more performance from your processor. This technique can also be applied to RAM, graphic card, or anything that can be overclock

I told him to downclock it back to 2.0Ghz, install the new RAM module back, start the computer, wait and see if the random blue screen error messages everytime the computer crashes still occur. He doesn’t call me till now, and it has been 3 hours. I guess the random blue screen error messages problem have been solved.

I just want to share the Biostar P4M900-M4 motherboard Award BIOS beep code, for future reference for those who want to keep this information during future troubleshooting or diagnosing system error, by referring to Award BIOS beep code.

Beep Sound
One long beep followed by two short beeps - Video card not found or video card memory bad
High low siren sound - CPU Overheated, System will shut down automatically
One short beep when system boot up - No error found during Power On Self Test (POST)
Long beeps every other second - No DRAM detected or install

Usually, the motherboard Award BIOS beep code is the same for motherboard that are using Award BIOS.
